Take a half an hour drive from the coastal city of Bundaberg, Queensland (QLD), reach the historic city of Gin Gin and indulge in the snug countryside splendour of Country Comfort® Hotel Gin Gin Wild Scotsman located on the Bruce Highway, north-west of Brisbane and Rockhampton.
The Gin Gin district is nicknamed ‘Wild Scotsman Country’ after one of Queensland’s few bushranger James Alpin McPherson. Mcpherson was also known as the ‘Wild Scotsman’ and would laid in wait for the mail delivery. His infamy is now celebrated as the ‘Wild Scotsman Festival’ in March.
Gin Gin – gateway to the bush, barra fishing and the Bundaberg region. The main street offers a fantastic trip into yesteryear with buildings dating from the 1900’s set alongside the beautified, long median strip. Gin Gin has become an international fishing destination with the success of the Lake Monduran, which has been stocked with native Barramundi and Bass species. The annual Barramundi Fishing Competition is usually held in October each year. Lake Monduran is the fifth largest dam in Queensland that spans a shoreline of 400 kms and travels 32 kms upstream from the dam.
